Rota Design is often asked to re-engineer an existing design.
A recent example was the base mount of a marine enclosure of a radar
reflector. Analysis revealed that the design had radii which were incompatible with the process. The designer had not provided sufficient draft angles and had design features which the analysis indicated had significantly stressed the materials used.
Rota Design re-engineered the product adding larger webs, appropriate draft angles and radii and amended the mounting and installation details. A rapid prototyped quarter model of the proposed design amendments was presented to the client for approval. Subsequently, a new mould was obtained and the product performance is greatly improved.
