Design of jigs and fixtures is a difficult process. In order to achieve accuracy and repeatability, it is vital to retain the component securely whilst it is being processed without the application of excessive force.

Careful calculation of the minimum force required to positively and safely retain the component in all planes without damage to delicate features is always necessary. In defining these forces and verifying the effects upon the component, Rota Design often uses finite element analysis in the design process.
