Rota Design and a series of marine buoys . . .



During 2006 Rota Design worked closely with Eason Marine to design a series of navigation buoys. In March 2007 Eason Marine won a contract to supply Trinity House following extensive trials of a number of lightweight buoys for inshore locations.

Rotationally moulded buoys manufactured from polyethylene require very little maintenance, do not rust, are easily cleaned and require no paint. Approximately one third of the weight of conventional buoys, they are easily serviced and often whilst still at sea so offering port and harbour authorities considerable savings in maintenance costs.

Rota Design was also contracted to design and verify the lifting devices. The design was optimised using the finite element method and provides a factor of safety in excess of that specified by maritime bodies.
