Plate & Sheet Metal Development

Following design of a product, the next logical step is for Rota Design to extend it's service and expertise to the tooling manufacturer through the provision of part and assembly drawings. Rota Design also provides a number of sheet metal fabricators with data in a format which is loaded directly to a laser cutting machine to accurately and efficiently produce the components for fabrication of the mould. The data may also be utilised for folding, punch presses, laser, plasma and water-jet cutting, and other CNC machines.

The software employed takes the 3D model and effectively unfolds the shapes with due regard to bending allowances and intersecting geometry. Once laid flat, true length measurements are automatically calculated in seconds; an operation which may take a skilled sheet metal worker many hours to perform manually.

The software utilised by Rota Design is an integrated program to calculate unfolded sheet development of ducts, rectangle to round transitions, cylinders, cones, pipe intersections, connections, bifurcation and elbows. Other applications include HVAC, hoppers, cyclones, air and dust movement, extraction or pressure systems, ducts and silos.
