Transport
and Refrigeration
Rota Design and a
project for Hubbard Transport
Refrigeration Solutions.
Based in Suffolk, East Anglia, UK, Hubbard Transport Refrigeration
Solutions prepared a design brief to re-engineer the cover for the
Alpha 390 range of refrigeration units.
The Alpha 390 refrigeration unit is specifically designed for panel
vans and box bodies to transport chilled and frozen produce.
The cover had to be aesthetically pleasing to match the contours
of a typical transit van whilst retaining the ability to house the
internal components with due regard for maintenance requirements.
Following exhaustive investigation, rotational moulding in polyethylene
provided a cost effective solution in comparison to traditional
manufacturing methods and with a variety of benefits.
Hubbard provided the 3D CAD data for the internal components
to enable Rota Design to accurately determine the most effective
use of the available space and shape using advanced surfacing and
solid modeling techniques.
Throughout the project, Hubbard engineers were kept abreast of progress
and engineering design amendments through the extensive use of e-drawings.
